Doncaster Rape & Sexual Abuse Counselling Service

Our Board

DRASACS is fortunate to have a fantastic, dynamic board of trustees who volunteer their time and expertise to support the organisation. The Board is responsible for the overall management and strategic direction of the charity.

David Lister

David-James Lister : Chair

@MlSTERLlSTER

As a family law solicitor experienced in advising on all areas of family and relationship breakdown, David was approached to join the Board at DRASACS in early 2012 and became Chair of our Board of Trustees in 2015.

He is a Partner and the National Head of Family and Divorce Law at Simpson Millar LLP, a Times top 2020 Law Firm.

David is also the National Chairman of Young Resolution, an organisation of over 6,000 Family Lawyers dedicated to resolving family disputes in a constructive and dignified way. Outlines David:

“In a time where vital services are perpetually under threat from cuts and lack of money, it’s imperative that support for organisations such as DRASACS is readily available to guarantee they are here in the years to come to carry on with the outstanding work they are doing.”

Dawn Thomas

Dawn Thomas : Trustee

Having been a registered nurse since 1984, Dawn has had a varied, fulfilling and wide-ranging career. During the years since qualifying as a nurse she has successfully studied for a number of post-registration awards, both clinically focussed and academic including Bachelors and Masters Degrees, whilst balancing the demands of a very busy work and family life.

In recent years Dawn has worked at a senior level in a number of local NHS Trusts being an Assistant Director of Nursing in South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, Head of Nursing for Medicine in the Rotherham Foundation Trust and currently Lead Nurse for Specialist Palliative Care in Sheffield Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

This year Dawn intends to gear down a little and will semi-retire in July 2018. This will enable her to fulfil other areas of her life such as her involvement with DRASACS, moving to a new home on the east coast and engaging more in leisure activities including her great passion for dance and walking her two border terriers.

Kirsten Howells

Kirsten Howells : Treasurer

@Kirsten_PR

Kirsten joined the DRASACS board in 2011 after hearing all about the organisation at a local networking event. The more she heard about DRASACS, the more she felt compelled to get involved and support marketing and communications for the charity.

A former Head of PR at Doncaster-based communications agency, Public, and Sheffield-based advertising and design company, The Black Eye Project, Kirsten has over 18 years experience working in PR and marketing, in the UK and abroad. After prising herself away from The Black Eye Project, Kirsten recently launched her own communications consultancy. Her clients have included both private and public sector businesses such as Netto, Keepmoat, Northern Foods, Sheffield City Council, Paramount Hotels, Merchant Gourmet, Fragata, Henry Boot Construction and the Gilder Group.

A Modern Languages graduate, Kirsten is also a keen age-group triathlete and when she’s not working can be found either swimming, biking or running somewhere in Yorkshire or Derbyshire!
