Doncaster Rape & Sexual Abuse Counselling Service

Counselling for Adults

We are able to offer counselling to any adult who has experienced rape or sexual abuse, either recently or in their past.

People who have been sexually abused or raped often have different feelings or reactions to their situation. These might include, for example:

  • Feeling ashamed, guilty or thinking it is your fault
  • Having nightmares or flashbacks
  • Feeling ugly or dirty
  • Having problems concentrating
  • Trying or wanting to hurt yourself
  • Turning to alcohol, drugs or other destructive behaviours

It is quite natural to feel like this or to have other reactions.

If something has happened to you, then talking about things can help. Our trained counsellors are here to listen to you; they won’t judge you, they won’t tell you what to do and they won’t give out any personal information if you don’t want them to (unless in exceptional circumstances). What they will do is try to help you explore your feelings and make positive decisions for yourself.

How do I find out more?

If you would like to talk to one of our counsellors, call us on 01302 360421. You can leave a message with your name and number, and a counsellor will call you back. You can then tell us more about why you have called and ask any questions you may have.

If you would prefer, you can email us at admin@drasacs.org.uk
