Counselling for Family Members
When family members become aware that someone close to them has been raped or sexually abused, it is likely to have a significant impact on them. Dealing with the consequences of rape or sexual abuse can be very difficult for the parents, siblings, grandparents or children of those who have been assaulted. Some people may feel angry at what has happened or have feelings of guilt that they were unable to protect their loved one. You may also find it particularly difficult if the perpetrator is another family member, which can often be the case. These feelings are natural but can be difficult to come to terms with.
At DRASACS, we understand the impact of rape and sexual abuse on the family members of victims and we are able to provide counselling support to relatives who feel they need it.
